Early Literacy

Early literacy is what children know about communication, language—verbal and non-verbal—reading and writing before they can actually read and write.

Movement Book Bags (with CDs)

Phonological awareness is the ability to hear the smaller sounds in words (rhymes, beginning sounds and syllables). Reading, singing, talking, moving and playing with children are great ways to teach this important skill.

All book bags have between 10-20 books, and sets with more than one kit have many of the same titles. These kits are not available at any branch; you must put them on hold. To place on hold, click on a book bag’s title. This will take you to the library catalog.
