Your Guide to LibraryCon 2024

Join us for our seventh annual convention celebrating all things pop culture at Fairfax County Public Library's LibraryCon!


Saturday, October 12th from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM

This event will be held at the Jim Scott Community Center (formerly Providence Community Center):

3001 Vaden Drive

(Walking distance from Vienna Metro station.)


"Geek out" at our seventh annual celebration of comic books, science fiction, fantasy, TV, movies and more. Visit our interactive FanFaire as well as our vendor hall featuring local businesses.

Family-friendly costumes encouraged. Cosponsored by Neighborhood and Community Services. All Ages.

Is this a free event?

As with any other Fairfax County Public Library-sponsored program, attending LibraryCon is free. This event does not require registration or a ticket to attend. However, vendors will be selling books, merchandise and more in the vendor hall. Food trucks will also be onsite offering food and drinks. Vendors may take different payment methods depending on their setup, so please plan accordingly.

Is LibraryCon for all ages?

Yes, LibraryCon is an all ages, family-friendly event! We will have activities for young children, older children, teens, and adults. See the Things to Do tab for more information about specific activities.

Can I wear a costume to LibraryCon?

Yes, family-friendly cosplay is encouraged and welcome at LibraryCon! While we will not be having a formal Cosplay Contest, we encourage you to get in the fandom spirit and dress up as your favorite character or wear your favorite geeky shirts and accessories.

What can I buy at LibraryCon?

LibraryCon will feature a vendor hall in the gymnasium selling a variety of items, as well as food trucks outside in the parking lot. We will feature a variety of vendors, such as comic shops, local artists and authors, game stores, and more. See the LibraryCon Vendors and Food Trucks tabs for more information. Please note that vendors may take different payment methods depending on their setup, so please plan accordingly.

Will there be food at LibraryCon?

Food trucks will be available on site from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. See Food Trucks tab for more information. Vending machines are also available at the Jim Scott Community Center. Several shopping centers are also within driving distance of Jim Scott Community Center for easy access before or after the event.

Can I park at Jim Scott Community Center?

Parking at Jim Scott Community Center is limited. Additional parking can be found at the Vienna Station South Parking Garage near the Vienna Metro station. Jim Scott Community Center is a 0.4 mile, ten-minute walk from the Metro station. A free shuttle bus will also run continuously between JSCC and the South Parking Garage for the duration of the event. Bus pickup site is located on the corner of Vaden Drive and Saintsbury Drive.

Can I walk to Jim Scott Community Center from the Metro?

Yes! The Vienna Metro station is just a short walk away from Jim Scott Community Center if you would prefer to walk.

From the Vienna Station South Parking Garage:

Turn left from Saintsbury Drive to Vaden Drive.

Walk 0.4 miles.

Jim Scott Community Center will be on your right, at 3001 Vaden Drive.

Things to Do at LibraryCon:

LibraryCon runs from 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 12th. Activities will be happening all day, so drop in anytime!

Dragons Concord will also be running TTRPG games in the vendor hall, including Library Cats. Join us for an enchanting adventure of the Library Cats TTRPG! Join your clowder of magical felines tasked with protecting a mystical library, where you might chase mischievous ratfolk, outsmart rival clowders, or keep a scheming dragon from unleashing chaos. Can your clowder save the day and keep the library running smoothly?

Food trucks will be on site in the parking lot of Jim Scott Community Center to provide lunch and refreshment options from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Several shopping centers are also within driving distance of Jim Scott Community Center for easy access before or after the event.
