    Requirements parents and guardians must follow in order to homeschool a child.

  • Home Educators Association of Virginia
    Virginia homeschool information and resources. HEAV serves to promote and protect homeschooling in Virginia via information, legislation and homeschooling resources.

  • VaHomeschoolers
    An independent, nonprofit, member-directed organization, the Organization of Virginia Homeschoolers strives to protect and promote homeschooling through proactive legislative work and assistance to individual homeschoolers. VaHomeschoolers' website provides documents and articles designed to assist homeschoolers in understanding and meeting the legal requirements of Virginia's home instruction statutes.

    U.S. News and World Report ranks public high schools nationally and by state. Special features include rankings of the best charter, magnet and STEM schools across the nation.

  • Virginia School Quality Profiles
    Information about student achievement, college and career readiness, program completion, school safety, teacher quality and other topics of interest to parents and the general public. Report cards are available for schools, school divisions and for the commonwealth.

Fairfax County Public Library does not provide tutoring.  However, other resources are available:

  • Fairfax County Public Schools — Tutor List
    Fairfax County Public School system maintains a list of qualified, paid tutors. Send an email to prc@fcps.edu to get the current tutor list.

  • GIVE
    Many branches host regular, free tutoring sessions for K-6 grade students provided by high-school student volunteers from the Growth and Inspiration through Volunteering and Education program. Students can register here or search our events calendar (type "GIVE" in the search box) to find out about the next GIVE tutoring sessions at the library.
