Tired of looking at devices all day long? No problem! Stop by some of our branches to participate in Outdoor Story Walks or to pick up some fun activities! See kits available for:

Supplies for kits are limited. Please call the branch to make sure kits are available.

Take & Make Crafts
Pick up a take & make craft kit at the Martha Washington Library. Check out the kids display case for our current offerings. Kits available while supplies last.

Take & Make Craft Kits
Feeling crafty? Ask for our surprise Take & Make Craft Kit of the day at the Patrick Henry Library. Available till November 30.

Take & Make: Pipe Cleaner Wreaths
Pick up a kit from the Richard Byrd Library to make wreaths using pipe cleaners. Available December 1- December 21.

Thankful Turkeys
Pick up an activity from the Richard Byrd Library to make turkeys with an empty toilet paper tube. Available from November 9 - November 25.

Fun Thanksgiving Activities for Kids
Pick up Thanksgiving activity package from the Reston Regional Library. Available November 14- November 25.

Make a (Cardboard) Gingerbread Person
Take home a kit from the Kings Park Library to make an upcycled gingerbread person ornament out of cardboard. Available from December 8- December 22.

Take a walk through the woods while reading from "Run, Turkey, Run!” by Diane Mayr. After the story come by Martha Washington Library and pick up a Take & Make craft kit. First come first serve. StoryWalk® was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and has developed with the help of Rachel Senechal, Kellogg-Hubbard Library.

Families are invited by Reston Regional Library to take a walk and read a book "The Day You Begin" by Jacqueline Woodson. October 28 - December 12.


Our outdoor StoryWalk is back up at Chantilly Regional Library.  Read, "Being a Good CItizen, A Book About Citizenship" by Mary Small. October 28 -February 1, 2021.

Autumn Scavenger Hunt
What signs of Fall can you find in your neighborhood? Pick up an Autumn Scavenger Hunt sheet from the Dolley Madison Library.

Indoor Obstacle Course
Kids will be able to follow an obstacle course inside the building at Richard Byrd Library from November 2- November 30.

Facebook Live: Early Literacy in Action - The Ugly Pumpkin

Join us on Friday, November 20 at 10:00 a.m. at for a storytime that will include a gratitude pumpkin activity preschoolers can make using materials found in your home.

Stop by at the Thomas Jefferson Library and pick up a kit with blank cards, brush pens, and lettering practice sheets. Available November 2- December 1.

Fall Leaf Garland
Pick up an activity kit to make a Fall Leaf Garland from the John Marshall Library. Available till November 25.


Bring a classic murder mystery into your home! Pick up your evidence kit today from the Dolley Madison Library! Available November 15 - January 15, 2021.

Botanical Watercolor Painting Kit
Pick up this watercolor kit including tutorials and supplies needed to paint a lily from the Great Falls Library. Available November 23-December 12.

Pop Up Valentine's
Pick up a take-away kit to make a pop-up Valentine’s Day card from the Burke Center Library. Available February 2021.

Visit the Great Falls Library to pick up a fun project kit to complete at home from October- December.

Grab & Go Activities
Visit Kingstowne Library to pick up grab & go activities you can do at home. New activity kits are available every few weeks. Available through January, 2021.

Take and Make Face Mask Kits
Come to the Information Desk at the City of Fairfax Regional Library to pick up a face mask kit. Each kit Includes pattern and supplies to make one basic pleated face mask. Fabric can be cut down to make a child sized mask. Available till December 1.

Make your own miniature folded book and then create your own story to fill it! Stop at the George Mason Regional Library to pick one up curbside! Available November 4 - November 30 or till supplies last.
