The Fairfax County Public Library assesses late fees to the record of any borrower who fails to return or renew library materials on or before their due date.If an overdue item is successfully renewed, borrowers are responsible for the payment of any late fees that accumulate while the item is overdue. Responsibility for returning items in a timely manner belongs to the cardholder. The library offers email notification of due date reminders to help customers avoid late fees. If you do not choose to receive email notifications about your account and have provided a phone number you will receive a phone call when an item is ten days past due.
Borrowing privileges are blocked when fees amount to $15 or more.
|Books, Audiobooks, DVDs, Framed Art, Hot Picks, Kits, Pamphlets, Periodicals||$0.30 per day overdue/

Items that are more than 50 days overdue will be declared lost and the cardholder will be billed for the cost of the item. If the long overdue item is returned, the replacement cost will be removed and the cardholder will instead be billed for the maximum overdue rate for the item. Items that are damaged will be billed for the cost of the item. Once a lost item is paid for it becomes the property of the customer and the library will not provide a refund or credit if found.
Please look thoroughly before reporting a loss as the cost of the item is non-refundable should you subsequently find the item. Report lost or damaged items at any library branch, http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/library/branches.
