Fairfax County Residents
For most customers there is no card fee and no expiration. Just verify your name and address if . . .
- You live or own property in Fairfax County, the City of Fairfax, or the Towns of Herndon or Vienna,
- You live, work, own property, or attend school in a reciprocal jurisdiction,
- You are enrolled in a public, private, or parochial school, college or university in Fairfax County, the City of Fairfax, or the Towns of Herndon or Vienna,
- You are employed in Fairfax County, the City of Fairfax, or the Towns of Herndon or Vienna (you will need to verify your employment).
Reciprocal Cards
- Persons who live, work, own property, or attend school in reciprocal jurisdictions are also entitled to a free Fairfax County Public Library card
- Reciprocal borrowers have all of the privileges extended to Fairfax County customers, except that of requesting Interlibrary Loans. We refer reciprocal customers to their home library system for this service.
Educator Cards—No Fee, Annual Expiration
- Educator cards can be issued to preschool through post-secondary teacher at a public school or private school or homeschool parent or guardian within Fairfax County or the City of Fairfax
- Educator cards expire annually on June 30th, and are removed 1 year after the expiration date if not renewed.
Corporate Cards—No Fee, Annual Expiration
- Corporate cards may be issued to a corporation, business, school, or association located in Fairfax County, City of Fairfax, or a reciprocal jurisdiction
- Corporate cards expire 1 year after registration or privilege renewal date and are removed 1 year after expiration date if not renewed
Non-resident Cards—$27 Annual Fee, Annual Expiration
- A person who lives in the United States, but does not meet the eligibility requirements for a standard or reciprocal customer may purchase a Non-resident FCPL account for $27
- Non-resident Cards expire 1 year after registration or privilege renewal date and are removed 3 months after privilege expiration date if not renewed.
