Screencasting at Fairfax County Public Libraries

The Fairfax County Library branches listed below currently offer screencasting technologies in the public meeting rooms. See below to book a meeting room and view setup instructions for each device. HDMI cables are also available at each locations for direct connections to laptops.

Connect to WePresent

Connecting to the WePresent with a Windows or Mac laptop:

Before you arrive for your meeting, click the link for your operating system below to download the MirrorOp software:

Follow the steps in the wizard to install the software.

When you arrive for your meeting:

  • Connect your laptop to the WePresent using the wireless network and password shown on the screen.
  • Open the MirrorOp software. It will detect the WePresent device for that room (name will match the "Hostname" in the upper-right corner of the screen).

  • Enter the code on the upper-right of the WePresent monitor to connect.

  • After successfully entering the code, the window will collapse and present the Play button. Select it to begin sharing your screen.
    • If the play button doesn't appear, select the collapse button. collapse button option 
  • To stop sharing your screen, press the stop button.

Direct connections via HDMI are also available in all meeting rooms.

Connecting to the WePresent with iOS device (iPhone, iPad):

  • Connect your device to the WePresent using the wireless network and password shown on the screen.
  • Swipe up to open the Command Center (swipe down from the upper right corner for iPhone X or later or iPad running iOS 12 and later).
  • Select Screen Mirroring.

  • The WePresent device for that room will be detected, and will match the hostname shown on the monitor.
  • Enter the code in the upper right hand of the monitor to connect and being sharing your screen.
  • Press the home button to exit screen sharing.

Connecting to the WePresent with Android device (phone or tablet):

  • Before you arrive, download the MirrorOp Presenter App from the Google Play Store.
  • Connect your device to the WePresent using the wireless network and password shown on the screen.
  • Open the MirrorOp app and select the screen mirror icon.

  • Type in the hostname or shown on the monitor.
    • If the hostname is not accepted, type in the IP address listed under the hostname.
  • Enter the code in the top right corner of the screen when prompted.
  • Press the Play icon to start sharing your screen.

Connecting to the WePresent with a Chromebook:

  • Connect your device to the WePresent using the wireless network and password shown on the screen.
  • In the bottom right hand corner, click on the toolbar in the lower right hand corner (where the clock is).

  • Click on the Cast option. You should see the name of the WePresent device in your meeting room (labeled Hostname). Click on the hostname for your meeting room in the menu. 
  • You will see a dialog box asking what you want to share. The default option is your entire screen. 
    • Make sure "Share Audio" is checked in the lower left hand corner.

  • Select Share to begin sharing your screen.
  • To stop sharing, click in the toolbar in the lower right. There will be a notification that you are sharing your screen, and an option to select STOP to stop sharing.

Connect to Apple TV

Connecting to the Apple TV with Mac laptop:

  • Connect your laptop to the WePresent wireless network in the upper-right hand corner of the monitor.
  • Enter the password shown on the monitor.
  • On your Mac, click  in the menu bar at the top of your screen.
    • If you don't see , go to Apple menu > System Preferences > Displays, then select the "Show mirroring options in the menu bar when available" checkbox.
  • Choose the Apple TV for your location. 
  • Enter the passcode on the screen if prompted.
  • To stop mirroring , click  in the menu bar, then choose "Turn AirPlay Off."

Connecting to the Apple TV with iOS device (iPhone, iPad):

  • Connect your iOS device to the WePresent wireless network in the upper-right hand corner of the monitor.
  • Enter the password shown on the monitor.
  • Swipe up to open the Command Center (or swipe down from the upper right corner for iPhone X or later or iPad running iOS 12 and later).
  • Select Screen Mirroring.

  • Select the Apple TV for your location from the list.
  • Enter the onscreen code to share your screen.
  • Press the home button to exit screen sharing.
