eBooks: Getting Started

Thousands of eBooks and eAudiobooks available anytime and from anywhere you have internet access—free with your library card!

Intro to eBooks and eAudiobooks

The library offers free access to eBooks and eAudiobooks, which are digital books that you can read or listen to on a computer or a portable device.

You will need a Fairfax County Public Library card in order to access the several eBook services that the library subscribes to, including:

  • OverDrive
  • RBdigital eBooks and eAudiobooks (merging with OverDrive this fall)
  • RBdigital magazine collection (merging with OverDrive in the Libby app at a later date)

Directions for finding, downloading and transferring the eBooks will vary depending on what type of device (Kindle, iPad, Nook, laptop, etc) you use to read or listen to library eBooks or eAudiobooks.
