JAWS is a software program for computer users whose vision loss prevents them from seeing screen content or navigating with a mouse. It is a screen reader that reads the text that is displayed on the computer screen with a speech synthesizer, allowing visually impaired users to access information. JAWS can help navigate webpages or applications like Microsoft Word.
Beginning in 2026, JAWS will be available in Fairfax County Public Library on all public library computers. Log onto a public computer with a guest pass or your library card. Then click the JAWS icon on the desktop.
