Sebastian Trapp is a very successful and prolific mystery writer. But one of the greatest mysteries of Sebastian Trapp's life didn't occur in one of his novels. It occurred in real life.
Twenty years ago, on New Years Eve 1999, Sebastian's first wife and teenage son disappeared from separate locations never to be seen again. No clue, no notes, nothing but memories. In the meantime, Sebastian has closed himself off with his second wife, daughter, and nephew and mostly stayed out of the public eye. The only person Sebastian makes any effort to communicate with is a younger fan of his works and the detective mystery genre, Nicky Hunter.
Nicky is given the almost impossible task of writing down Sebastian Trapp's life story before he succumbs to cancer. One of Sebastian's decrees is that everyone must speak with Nicky. Family, friends, contemporaries, and even old enemies must all speak with Nicky to share their version of past events. Leaving no stone unturned. As more and more mysteries come to light and threatening letters, notes, and objects start being found all over the house, it's no surprise when bodies start appearing. But there are certainly more than enough questions that need answers.
Who is behind all this? What do they have to gain from solving this mystery? What happened to Sebastian's first wife and son? And most importantly, who's next?
