I chose this book because it has the cutest garlic on the cover. I found the characters drawn and presented in a unique and interesting way -- even the vampire and the witch. The book has a surprise tweak and a lighthearted feel to it.

I really liked Garlic right away, as she was sort of late to work, and has a nice and kind friend named Carrot. They community they lived in seemed quiet and serene, but the plot thickens when they noticed that there was smoke coming from the spooky castle up the hill.

Everyone in the community began to feel anxious and voted to send Garlic to confront the castle's mysterious resident just in case it was the Vampire. They all decided that Garlic has the best defens since vampires in general avoid garlic completely. Garlic did not really want to, but with her friend Carrot's encouragement, she went and confronted the creature living on the hill.

Not to spoil the end, no one got in any danger, and they all made a new friend in the end. It turned out that their new friend had retired and ultimately became a vegetarian who consumes beetroot and tomato juice with a hint of lime and a pinch of cayenne. He even started to grow his own food.

I really enjoyed this short read because the ending wasn't what I thought it would be. I would not mind getting lost in their neighborhood at all.
