This book talks about the soundtracks in your head that accompany your state of remorse and inactivity. Have you heard voices over and over again in your head and you wanted them to go away? Sometimes I would hear my voice saying, "I don't think I can do this." Well, this new book, "Soundtracks," seems to have the right prescription for quieting those voices or making them disappear - just in time for the new year ahead.
For starters, the author "recommends in Chapter 6 to don't fight it- flip it." Like I can flip the broken soundtrack of no diet will work for me to I can eat healthier in 2022 (after a last one Big Mac call for 2021). Or I could flip to a realistic goal of being positive and supportive when a friend or co-worker tells me about their goal or idea instead of blurting out loud that it's not a good idea or showing my face of disapproval. As John Acuff mentioned in the book, the flip side of saying no is saying yes. Besides, nothing could deter the goals or ideas of someone from happening if they are being passionate about it. And in thinking about that voice in my head, I prefer it to speak to myself kindly with a dash of possibility.
