That Time I Got Drunk and Saved a Demon by Kimberly Lemming

This original book review was written by and posted on behalf of Laurel Jackson.

Aptly named spice trader Cinnamon is minding her own business --loving life, getting a little tipsy at the local tavern-- when she inadvertently saves a demon. This is bad, since demons are supposed to be mindless monsters filled with rage. Except this demon isn't a monster (although he is a gruff, shape-shifting dragon), and what he tells Cin upends the entire structure of her world. Then he demands she join him on a quest to save all of demonkind and stop the evil witch pretending to be a benevolent god…which just feels like a lot of work, you know?

THIS is the kind of cozy romantasy I adore: an irreverent everything-but-the-kitchen sink approach to fantasy that's both homage and parody. The stakes are high, the main leads are hilarious, the banter banters, the spice is spicy (IYKYK), and the world-building is delightful.

If you ever read a book where they mention bread and cheese and wondered what kind of bread and what kind of cheese? this book has you covered. The food is described in delicious detail, and I dare you to not make a mini dragon hoard of a charcuterie board when you're reading this.
