This book reminded me of the movie The Bodyguard with Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner. In this book, though, the Executive Protective Agent is Hannah, and the person she has to protect is the actor named Jack Stapleton. Jack Stapleton has a stalker who broke into his house.
It would have been an easier situation if Jack's family was not involved, but crises appeared when Jack needed to go home to visit his ill mother. In order not to alarm his family about the stalker, he asked Hannah to be his protector/pretend girlfriend during his visit or until his mother's condition stabilized.
This story took me from a whirlwind of the characters playing pretend and second -guessing themselves to a series of inevitable events that showed how they truly felt towards each other. At the end, I wouldn't have been surprised to hear Whitney singing the theme song from the movie.
