The Family History Kits are our newest addition to the Library of Things!
These kits include a set of cards with interview prompts, a digital voice recorder, and instructions on how to get started gathering your family history. Interview prompts are currently available in English, but Spanish and Korean will be added later this fall.

CIRCULATION POLICY
- Family History Kits may be borrowed for 2 weeks. They are renewable, if no one is waiting.
- Backpacks may be placed on hold for pickup at the City of Fairfax Regional Library.
- Fines accrue for late returns on this item.
- We request this item be returned to a staff member inside the library instead of the book drop.
- Please delete any digital files off the voice recorder before returning.

- Read through the interview prompt cards. Choose the most appropriate questions for your family interview session. Additional prompts are included in the Getting Started Guide
- Familiarize yourself with the digital voice recorder. Links to user manual and videos below.
- Genealogical charts, published by the National Archives, can be printed for free when picking up or dropping off the Family History Kit. Links included below.
