Services & Fees

Research Assistance is provided by staff and volunteers as available. Long distance researchers may contact us with brief research requests. Please submit your questions via email at va_room@fairfaxcounty.gov ​

Photocopies & Scans are available for a fee. Rare Book Room items may not be photocopied or scanned; photographs may only be copied by staff. All other items can be reproduced by researchers.​

Microfilm Readers are available on a first-come basis. Two ScanPro readers (bottom left) have the option of saving digital images or printing, and three Minolta MS600 (bottom right) are for viewing only. 

                

 

Court Access Public Network (CPAN) is available on a first-come basis and can save digital images or print. CPAN includes deeds and wills from 1742.

 

Memory Depot Stations are available for digitizing photographs, slides, audio cassettes, and 8mm film. An overview of available equipment is available here. Please complete the virtual orientation prior to your visit. Reservations are encouraged:  Register for a session.

Access to some databases require a FCPL card; you can apply for a library card at any branch or online.
