I was just going to move on to reading another book until a black cat with shimmering fur followed me on one of my walks. Although not a cat person, I saw it as a sign to go back and think about the story. The Traveling Cat Chronicles is narrated by a male feline named Nana. The plot revolves around how his owner Naturo finds and takes care of him. Then something gets hold of Naturo, however, and he can no longer take care of Nana. The two of them undertake a long journey to find a perfect home for Nana. Each visit to Naturo's friends reveals how deep and meaningful his friendships are. Each friendship forms a story of how to be a friend and be cared for.
This book reminded me of the gift of friendship and to be grateful for those who choose to be around us in our journey. I am still not a cat person, but this book kind of reminded me of Proverbs 17:17: A friend loves at all times.
