Share Code

It is possible for an account creator to share readers with another account creator. For example, a teacher may want to share a student's reader page with a parent, or a parent may want to share a reader's profile with another caregiver. When reader information is shared, both account creators may take actions on the reader's profile and are able to edit/update it collaboratively.

Sharing a reader is an action that may only be taken by an account creator.

1. Go to https://fairfaxcounty.beanstack.org.
2. Sign into your account. From there, you will be taken to the Reader Dashboard.
3. Click on the Account holder’s name in upper right-hand corner. A drop down box will appear.
4. Select the name of the person you want to share and click the pencil next to the account holder's name.
5. The reader’s information will open. Scroll down to Share This Reader. Enter the email of the person you want to have access to this reader’s information. Click Send.
6. An email will be sent to this person. It will have a Share Code. This code is needed to access the Reader’s account information.

Using the Share Code if you don’t have a Beanstack account:
1. Go to fairfaxcounty.beanstack.org.
2. Click on Share a Code in the upper right-hand corner.
3. Complete the required information. You will be asked to enter the share code that was sent to your email address.
4. Click Sign Up.
5. The Reader Dashboard will open with the reader information that has been shared.

Using the Share Code if you already have a Beanstack account:
1. Go to fairfaxcounty.beanstack.org.
2. Sign into your account. From there, you will be taken to the Reader Dashboard.
3. Scroll to the bottom of the page.
4. Look in the lower left-hand corner. Click “Share Code.
5. Enter the code that was sent to your email. It will link your account to the reader.
6. The reader will appear in your account. Choosing this person will allow you to access their
information.

NOTES:
• If account creators share a reader with someone, it is possible for them to revoke access by going to the Reader Dashboard and choosing the pencil next to name of the person that has information being shared. Once the reader’s information page opens, scroll down and revoke access.
• Additionally, the person who has access to shared information may also revoke their own access.
