Immigrant Heritage Month

National Immigrant Heritage Month is observed annually in June to celebrate the contributions of immigrants to American society and culture. It offers the opportunity to explore one's own heritage and celebrate the diversity found across the United States.

DIY Activities

  • Color a butterfly to celebrate the beauty of migration.  
  • Watch Yuyi Morales reading her book Dreamers.  
  • Make your own book and write your family’s immigration story.  
  • Watch "Spanish Me, English Me”, a song from Sesame Street about belonging to two cultures.  
  • Learn about a different country through its' crafts.  
  • Cook a dish from another country.  
  • Interview a friend or family member about their immigration story. When did they arrive here? What do they miss from their homeland? What do they like best about the United States? 
  • Learn how to say hello in different languages.  
  • Visit the National Museum of American History to learn about the history and contributions of immigrants to the United States.
